Hello again. I spent a little time out in my backyard this morning watching the birds. I had plenty of squirrels, a beautiful male Cardinal, some Blue Jays, a couple of Grackles and a Dove. I'm including this series of the Blue Jay below, because I didn't know that they could hold more than one peanut at a time. You can view these larger in the gallery link at the end of the story.
Next up is this gorgeous male Cardinal! His color is amazing, so we must be feeding him the right seeds! I did see the female up on the power wires nearby, but too many squirrels were making her nervous.
There's definitely a battle going on for the peanuts. I didn't realize so many birds enjoyed eating them. The squirrels are just a menace. They eat more peanuts than anyone else and they often scare away the birds.
However, this Blue Jay saw a peanut and didn't care about any furry squirrel. He landed right next to the squirrel, turned his head a couple of times and took the peanut! You go Blue Jay!
Lastly, I got this Blue Jay on the fence with a peanut and wind blown head feathers. If you are interested in seeing these larger, please click the link below. Thank you!
