Whenever we buy a new feeder, the birds take some time to warm up to it. We decided to leave the old, broken feeder out there and filled it with peanuts. The squirrels and Blue Jays love peanuts and by noon, they had emptied it. The Grackles also showed some interest in the peanuts, but they were the only birds who tried out the new feeder. The Cardinals made a brief appearance and the female stayed a little further away and was very timid and cautious. In her defense, there was a lot of activity going on. I took the photo of the male African Rainbow Lizard a few days ago. He has been hanging out in the front yard and is dining on the bees as they fly to and from our giant fig tree. Also, while I was sitting out back today, I most definitely heard a woodpecker. I'm hoping I can locate it in the near future. Seems like I will definitely have plenty of birds to practice with. I hope you enjoy.
