The first thing we did on the second day of our trip was Gettysburg National Park. I was there once before, but it was Kaley's first time. Having taken US History last year, I thought this would be the perfect time for her to visit. It was a beautiful fall day and we started with temperatures in the 60's. Most of our entire trip we had weather in the mid 70's, so we hardly used our jackets.
We followed the entire self guided driving tour route and walked around at all of the 16 numbered tour stops, ending at Soldiers' National Cemetery. As you can see, we had gorgeous weather and blue skies. It's truly hard to stand among such beauty, yet imagine the bloodshed that occurred that July of 1863.

After leaving Gettysburg, we drove into Frederick, Maryland to have lunch. We found a great little restaurant called Jojo's. The brick wall outside made a perfect backdrop for a portrait of my daughter.
