My daughter and I just returned from a 6 day fall trip to Pennsylvania and New York City. Originally, our trip consisted of only visiting PA, but a couple of months ago, we decided to change the last 2 days of our trip to see the Big Apple. I haven't been to NYC since I was a kid and Kaley had never been. We did visit PA back in the summer of 2012 when Kaley was only 11, but it was nothing like we remembered. Surprisingly, we found friendlier people in NYC. Don't get me wrong, we found a few great people along our journey through PA, but it's really not what I remember or expected. I won't even get into our return experience to Hershey Chocolate World and Hersheypark. It was so bad that we will never go back. I do have pictures in the galleries for those experiences, but I definitely won't be blogging about them.
Our itinerary was full, as what's the point of a vacation if you don't fit in as much as humanly possible? We covered many miles on Planes, Trains and Automobiles. I've included a few of the photos in that gallery which were taken from our modes of transportation. In total, we rode 2,117 miles by plane, 173 miles by train and 921 miles by car.
Below is a brief summary of our itinerary. I will be writing several blog posts in the coming days to highlight the best parts of our trip. You will also see cell phone pictures mixed into some of the galleries, as selfies and quick pics of my daughter are most certainly an important part of the memories.
Day 2: Gettysburg National Park; Sachs Covered Bridge; Frederick, MD (lunch); Harrisburg Capitol; Broad Street Market; Riverfront Park for sunset; and Hershey's Chocolate World
Day 3: Hersheypark
Day 4: Pomeroy-Academia Covered Bridge; Hassenplug Covered Bridge; Elk Country Visitor Center; Kinzua Bridge State Park; Leonard Harrison State Park (Grand Canyon of PA)
Day 5: Amtrak train to NYC; Central Park; Times Square and site seeing
Day 6: New York Tour1 One day walking tour; Carmine's (dinner); Aladdin on Broadway
If you can't wait for the future posts, I'm including the links below to all of the trip galleries. Photos are separated by state, so if you go into the main travel gallery on my website, you would have to click on NY and PA separately, and then go into their corresponding 2017 galleries. I've made it easier by providing the links below.
