This morning Kaley ran in the inaugural Miami Clean 5K at Tropical Park. The race promotes education to young and developing athletes on the dangers of steroid and performance enhancing drugs and to promote clean and fair competition across all sports. The event was put on by The Porter Project, a non-profit foundation founded by Mr. Porter Fischer.
Before I get into the race details, I first want to mention that I signed Kaley up for this race back in November. Originally, this race was to take place in January, but was moved out until May. I started receiving emails from Porter about the change of date and also that Kaley was the first sign up! He told me he was going to do something special for her for being the first sign up of his inaugural race.
Race time was at 7:30 am this morning. Notice that she's also bib number 1? Porter lead the runners on bike as the race started. He also lead the first runner through the finish line at 17:25! Kaley crossed the finish line at 31:13 (her best 5K time to date) and she was the Top Female Young Adult Overall Winner! She came in first place in her age group and won an additional first place medal and a beautiful plaque. Along with her race awards, Porter presented her with some amazing gifts for being the first race sign up. Among other things, she walked away with movie tickets, a gift certificate, an Everest wireless activity tracker, and a Canon Elph film camera!
There was a photographer on hand at the race and there will be some additional photos posted to the event's Facebook page. I will try to add them when available. Thanks for stopping by the blog today. THE MIAMI CLEAN 5K GALLERY
