I finally picked up my camera today for the first time this year. January flew by and we have had nothing but a soggy winter here in South Florida. Today was just beautiful though and our highs were only in the 60's. I decided to not be lazy this fine Super Bowl Sunday and took my camera to the back yard for a little while.
The squirrels were emptying our old feeder almost daily and making a huge mess all over the yard. Not to mention the cost of all that wasted bird seed! We just hung this new "squirrel proof" feeder from the tree yesterday and I was happy to see the Cardinals using it this morning. The squirrels seem a little upset with us though. I'm getting stares from the tree tops and a little hissing too. They are smart critters though and have found a way to land on it and get a few seeds when we aren't looking. However, they can't ravage it like they did our old feeder. I think it's a step in the right direction.
We had a Cardinal pair today and I saw one Blue Jay, although he never made it over to the feeder when I was outside.
Enjoy the pictures.
