Today was the Ferguson High School Invitational track meet. The meet today included 17 schools from around the county. My daughter ran the 100m and 300m hurdles. She came in 2nd place in both of her heats, but placed 8th in the 100's (a qualifying position for finals) and she placed 17th in the 300's.
There was a 6' chain link fence all around the track, so during practice I just shot through it. We had cool weather and blue skies today, but that also meant that we had zero cloud cover. Shooting conditions were tough for me today. It was just way too bright out there on the track.

For the 100m hurdles, I snuck onto a grassy area inside the fence. I pushed the limit of the zoom lens that I had with me today. After cropping, the picture quality isn't the best. I absolutely love how this first picture turned out though. I framed her through all of the hurdles in the starting blocks. She took 2nd place in her heat at 19:65 seconds! She came in an overall 8th place, qualifying for finals and giving her team 1 point for the day.
Next were the 300m hurdles. She earned lane 5 after coming in 8th overall in the first race. She was probably in about 4th place coming around the last turn. This is where you have to turn it on and really sprint to the finish line. Kaley managed to get into 2nd place, while the girl in first place tripped over the last hurdle! However, that girl was able to recover and keep her first place position. It was a really close finish in the end. Kaley took 2nd place in her heat, but came in 17th overall for this event. Her time was 57:25 seconds.
